I've spent a few more days working on the camper and it is going along pretty well. The floor is insulated and down and I've started working on replacing some of the framing that was rotten. I will have some before and after pics follow this, although this isn't the final state of the trailer.
Packing the insulation (mostly hoping to reduce outside sounds) |
Perfect fit! |
So the floor went well and Jake and I somehow managed to fit this one piece of plywood around the bathroom door, making one less cut for us. I've also started screwing the aluminum back into the framing under the floor. I bought some roofing screws with little foam-ish washers that I hope hold off some of the rain.
As I mentioned I've also started re-framing the rotten areas. It turned out to go really fast, as Jake had predicted. I've only got the front triple window left, which should just take one afternoon. Here are some pics of the new framing. I used treated 2x4s ripped down to 2x2.
You can see the new framing sistered in at some places and just totally replaced in others. |
Taking the window out was easy and made framing possible. I just purchased some putty tape to seal the window. |
So I'm happy with the way things are going. I still haven't gotten to the roof yet, but hopefully that will be another quick fix. I guess that's all for now. Thanks for looking.
Glad to see a restoration in progress. I got a hold of the the twin sister this spring. Same exterior and interior! I'm afraid to peel back and see what's lies under. But, alas, it's too late. My '75 is ready for the road this May. Can't wait to see more.
